Deveronvale 0 Forres Mechanics 2

The Can Cans made it five wins out of five in the league after they swept aside Deveronvale with an accomplished performance at Princess Royal Park.

The home side had the first chance to open the scoring courtesy of Deveronvale’s Colin Charlesworth who received the ball after a cross by team-mate Graeme Rodger. With a clear sight at goal, Charlesworth could only hit his effort just past the post.

The deadlock was broken by Forres' Graham Fraser. He received the ball with his back to goal before he smartly spun past his marker and struck the ball home.

It didn't take long for the visitors to double their advantage with Can Cans midfielder Dachi Khutsishvili confidently smashing home a penalty before the interval.

The Georgian has had a great start to life as a Mechanics player, putting in a number of very impressive performances since his arrival from Elgin City a few weeks ago.

Forres' Kyle Scott wasted an opportunity to ensure the three points for his team when he headed a close-range effort of the bar.

Half Time: Deveronvale 0 Forres Mechanics 2

The visitors started the second half in the same way as they had the first, however they were unable any clear-cut goal scoring opportunities.

Looking for a way back into the game, Vale created the first opening of the half although just when it looked as those Phillip Watt might give the home fans some hope of a comeback, he failed to get a clean connection of the ball.

Craig Cowie had a goal cruelly disallowed for offside just when it looked as the Aberdeenshire outfit were on the front-foot and minutes later the same situation materialised again, much to Cowie's disbelief.

However, the Can-Cans rearguard held firm and the visitors came away from Princess Royal Park with a well deserved three points, a result which sees them leapfrog Cove Rangers into sixth place in the table.
