Forres Mechanics recorded their fifth-straight league win as they defeated a lacklustre Keith at Mosset Park.
Goals from Liam Baxter and Dachi Khutsishvili in the first half were enough for a Can-Cans victory.
With only 90 seconds on the clock Forres started the game the in best way possible, as Baxter cut into the box from the left flank and smashed the ball into the net from a tight angle to hand the hosts the opener.
Soon after the home side produced some delightful football when Fraser Forbes showed persistence to drive forward and he played a neat pass to Lee Fraser. The forward held up the ball well to set up Khutsishvili, whose powerful strike flew past the post.
In the 11th minute the home side doubled their lead as Simon Allan whipped in a corner from the left-hand side which Keith failed to deal with. This resulted in Khutsishvili picking the ball up 12 yards from goal and he fired a great finish past helpless keeper David Dey.
Soon after Andrew Howard cleverly flicked the ball down the right flank to Khutsishvili, who cut inside and crossed the ball into Baxter, who headed over the crossbar.
Not long after Khutsishvili used his strength to hold off a defender and he then played a pass to Craig McGovern, who connected brilliantly to the ball with his left foot, however he watched on in disappointment as his shot rattled off a post.
Just after the interval Howard fired a shot just wide of the target. Then Baxter came close to grabbing his second of the game as he tried to lob the keeper with a header, but Dey managed to jump up to hold on to the ball.
Minutes later, McGovern sent a set-piece into the box which Fraser pounced on to and fired in a shot, which forced Dey to come off his line to make a great stop.
Keith didn’t really have a stiff at goal until the fresh legs of Richard Henderson came on which brought some energy to the team however by this time it was too late.
