Neil Cooper and Ross Tokely shared the spoils in this match-up of new managerial teams, as Inverurie Loco Works came back from two goals down to earn a draw with Brora Rangers.
Following their 3-1 home loss to Wick midweek, Cooper's influence was immediately apparent as Inverurie dominated the early possession high up the pitch. This left them vulnerable to the Brora counter attack as the away side carved out the first opportunity on the break when Steven Ross's header required a diving save from Scott Mathieson to tip the ball over the crossbar.
The level of possession led to several opportunities for Inverurie, including when Andy Hunter headed just wide of goal at the back post from a Neil McLean corner.
Minutes later, Brora threatened as Zander Sutherland turned Daniel Crisp inside out following a short corner, before finding a yard to fire in a low effort that was pushed wide of goal by Mathieson.
Brora finally broke the deadlock on the half hour in controversial circumstances as Inverurie dropped their guard after the ball had apparently gone out of play on the left flank. Playing to the whistle, Sutherland took advantage of the situation by firing in an effort from out wide which caught Mathieson off guard as the ball evaded his grasp before nestling into the far corner.
Inverurie closed the half with the same level of intensity as before, coming close from a Jordan Leyden shot from the right that was tipped over the crossbar, before a scramble ended with an effort from McLean going wide.
Brora came close to doubling their advantage as the half came to a close after a flowing midfield move where Sutherland perfectly fed in Greig to advance on goal. He fired a looping effort towards the top-right corner that forced another fine diving save from Mathieson.
As the momentum of the match swung, both teams saw promising spells of possession without being able to challenge the opposing keeper.
It took until the 70th minute for the game to come alive once again as Brora seemingly wrapped up the points after a Locos defensive blunder.
Sutherland did well to take the ball down the right flank before crossing in front of goal, only to see Crisp poke the ball into his own net from two yards out.
Locos then produced an incredible comeback to tie the game.
Four minutes after Brora's goal, Leyden provided a perfect cross from a free-kick near the right corner to pick out Kieran Adams at the back post and he powered his header into the roof of the net from close range.
With the Brora defence shaken, Inverurie immediately won back possession and drove goalwards. Carving their way through midfield, a low effort from the edge of the box saw Munro rush from his line and spill the save allowing the ball to fall perfectly at the feet of Hunter, who calmly rounded the sprawling keeper to roll his shot into the net to tie the game.
