North of Scotland Cup Final
Rothes 2-1 Brora Rangers
Rothes came from behind to defeat Brora Rangers and lift the North of Scotland Cup at Grant Park. Second half goals from Michael Finnis and Ryan McRitchie won it for the Speysiders, after Matthew Wright had put Brora ahead early on.
Brora started well and Jordan Macrae rattled the crossbar with a shot from outside the box in the 12th minute.
A few minutes later a low ball in from John Pickles reached Matthew Wright and he slotted home to put Brora in front.
Dale Gillespie rifled a shot just over Sean McCarthy’s crossbar right on half time as Brora looked for a crucial second.
Rothes levelled matters three minutes into the second half, Allen Mackenzie’s ball in was returned across goal by McRitchie for Michael Finnis to scramble home the equaliser.
Rothes’ tails were up now, and Mackenzie immediately sent an effort narrowly over the top from 15 yards.
The winner came 15 minutes from time, Alan Pollock's corner headed powerfully home by McRitchie to send their travelling support into raptures.
Ross Jack's men survived some late Brora pressure to seal their second trophy win in just under 12 months.
