Nairn County dominated early on but found the breakthrough difficult to come by. Archie Macphee played in Stuart Leslie but he slipped his shot just past the post on the quarter hour. It took the Jags until the 21st minute to fire in an effort that just went wide of Callum Donaldson’s goal.
The Wee County responded with Stuart Leslie’s goalbound effort being blocked. Macphee then had a couple of efforts, the latter landing on the roof of the net but still Steve Martin’s goal remained intact, increasing the confidence of the Jags.
Early the second half Archie Macphee smashed a shot off the crossbar as it began to look increasingly as though Nairn’s luck may be out. As you would expect the home side came increasingly into the game and they went close on a couple of occasions in the second half with Matuesz Bobrowski, Josh Peters and Antonio Vostano all carrying a threat.
As the game drew towards a conclusion Nairn pressed once more in search of an elusive winner. Michael Morrison went close before, two minutes from time, they seemed to have grabbed a lifeline in the form of a penalty kick. Stuart Leslie took the responsibility only to fire his effort wide of the goal summarising a disappointing afternoon for Nairn but giving the Jags some reward for their determined and well organised display.
