  • Sat 5th Sept – Strathspey 1-2 Wick

Sam Mackay's double saw Wick edge out Strathspey at Seafield Park. The home team made a couple of changes from last week's defeat to Inverurie. Peter Tait took over in goal and Adam MacLeod started in place of John Treasurer. Wick also changed their side, with Gary Weir dropping on to the bench and James Pickles making the starting line-up. Strathspey started very well and should have taken the lead when James Mackay was set-up brilliantly as Martin Groat cut the ball back, but the wide man...

  • Sat. 1st August - Strathspey Th. 0 Turriff Utd. 2

Turriff are unchanged from there fine win at Huntly last Saturday, while Strathspey had to change their line-up due to various reasons. The game started in sunshine but we had to wait 10 mins for a shot at goal by Josh Peters, but his tame effort went straight at Main. Turriff deservedly took the lead after 19 minutes when corner from the right by Andy MacAskill eventually landed at Kuznecovs‘ feet and he had an easy finish from 5 yards. One minute later the same player hit the bar with a...

  • Elgin 4 Strathspey Thistle 1

Elgin City strolled to a 4-1 victory over Strathspey Thistle in their opening round of The North of Scotland cup in a game which saw Striker Craig Gunn score his first hat-trick of the season.   Gunn’s first goal came on the tenth minute when a Brian Cameron pass saw Gordon Findlayson in behind the jags defence. He then cut the ball back for Gunn for a simple tap in. In a game of few clear-cut chances, Gunn found a second goal when a misplaced Thistle pass let him in one on one with the ‘keeper and...

Wick Academy came from behind to record a comprehensive 6-1 victory against Strathspey Thistle. David Allan returned to the side from suspension, and was a key inclusion in the side by notching a hat-trick. The Jags took the lead following an excellent long-range strike from on-loan Forres Mechanics youngster John Ross. However, Thistle's lead lasted only seven minutes, as Wick equalised through James Pickles' deflected effort. Academy took the lead for the first time in the match when the...

  • Strathspey Thistle 0-2 Turriff United | SHFL | Saturday 5th April 2014

A goal towards the end of each half saw Turriff record their second victory over the Jags this season. After a relatively even first-half in wet conditions at Seafield Park, neither keeper was called into much action. However, five minutes before the break United took the lead courtesy of former Buckie Thistle striker Aaron Shand's neat finish. Jags keeper Kyle Robertson was forced to make two fine saves to deny visitors, however Turriff grabbed their second late on through Gary Harris to...

Buckie Thistle, for the only possible time this season, have taken the maximum six points from two fixtures against a side in the bottom four. Defeat to Rothes and Lossie, and draws against Fort William have, to an extent, been made up for after a 3-0 win added to their victory earlier on in the season in the initial fixture in Grantown. Pre-match, the sides displayed their Thistle connection as Buckie captain Lewis MacKinnon delivered a silver dish as a memento to the visitors to commemorate their...
