Craig McKeown

Full Name:
Craig McKeown
Formartine United

Age: 27: Born 16:03: 1985 in Aberdeen.  Newly installed as club Captain after signing a new 2 year contract, Craig was a major influence last season in United’s success making 42 competitive appearances and bagging 8 goals from set pieces utilising the skills he gained as a professional with Dundee, Dunfermline Athletic and Clyde. Having played Junior football for Formartine, the Tarves lad came through the youth system at Dunfermline. He spent time on loan at Berwick Rangers and when he left the club joined Clyde.  He scored his first Clyde goal with the last kick of the season and was part of the best defence in the league the following year. With him at the heart of the defence Clyde only conceded 35 league goals.

During his final season with Clyde although he missed a lot of the season through injuries he still managed to make 18 appearances and score 3 goals. He signed a pre contract agreement with Dundee half way through the season and joined up with the club in the summer of 2008.

Further injury problems kept him out for a spell in his first year at Dens but after a short loan spell at Stirling Albion he has been a regular in the Dundee side.  Two seasons ago he formed a solid central defensive pairing with Rhys Weston which helped Dundee retain their 1st division status despite a 25 point deduction.  Craig made 32 appearances for Dundee two seasons ago before leaving the club at the end of the season to join Formartine.
