End of Term Report Cards 2012-13: Turriff United

For the second night running the End of Term Report Card 2012-13 series takes us to a freshly furnished trophy room. Turriff United enjoyed Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield success for the second time in three seasons, reclaiming the trophy from Fraserburgh who won it last season. In addition, United marked their first ever Scottish Cup campaign with progress to the Fourth Round, and managed to take First Division runners-up Greenock Morton to a replay following a momentous 1-1 draw at the Haughs.

As seen in today’s HFL Newsround, co-managers Mark Simpson and James Duthie have managed to retain the services of a large proportion of their first team squad, and http://www.hflhub.co.uk reporter Andy Skinner caught up with the latter to review the season gone by.

End of Term Report Cards 2012-13: Nairn County

Nairn County are a side with much to be proud of this season. Despite finishing a place lower than last term – which was their best league finish in over 30 years – they improved upon their points tally. They also enjoyed three fine cup runs, going all the way in the AJG Parcels North of Scotland Cup with extra-time success over Wick Academy in October, and beating Division Three Clyde in the Scottish Cup before eventually going down 3-2 to Second Division play-off qualifiers Forfar Athletic after taking the tie to a replay. As the End of Term Report Cards series continues, http://www.hflhub.co.uk reporter Andy Skinner caught up with manager Les Fridge to reflect on the season.

Fort board restructure set to give Conlon player recruitment power

Fort William will approach the new season with renewed enthusiasm, after a behind-the-scenes reshuffle which will give manager Danny Conlon funds to strengthen his squad, http://www.hflhub.com can reveal.

A group of five prominent local businessmen were elected onto the Claggan Park board at last night’s AGM in a major restructure which will see Fort run as a community trust.

Ronnie MacLean was elected as the new chairman of the club, with Margaret Byron and Marie MacMillan remaining as secretary and treasurer respectively. Former chairman John Wattsman has also returned, this time as vice-chairman.

The running of the Lochaber side will now be split into two bodies. The five-man board - Stewart MacLean, Gerald MacIntyre, Drew Purdon, Stewart Leitch as well as current assistant manager Michael McEachan – will assume control of the financing of the club, and will aim to use their business acumen to source future funding.
