Breedon Highland League Cup Prelim Round

Strathspey Thistle v Formartine Utd
Strathspey Thistle and Formartine try again this weekend after last Saturday's match at Seafield Park was postponed. The home side will be without Ryan Mcleod for this one.

Visitors Formartine will be without the suspended Garry Wood, with the winners of tomorrow's tie facing a trip to Rothes in the next round.

Highland League

Brora Rangers v Buckie Thistle
It could be the biggest match of the Highland League season so far as leaders Buckie make the trip to face second place Brora at Dudgeon Park. The home side will be without the injured Joe Malin and Paul Brindle, while Ross County goalkeeper Ross Munro has extended his loan spell until the end of the season.

A win for the Jags tomorrow would put them nine points clear of their opponents with a game in hand, and possibly out of reach of the Cattachs. Andy Low, Andrew Skinner and Kai Ross all remain out for the visitors.

Clach v Lossiemouth
Clach and Lossie meet at Grant Street, with only two places and three points separating the two sides in the league table. Martin Callum, Colin Maclean, Scott Maclean, Ian Penwright and Matthew Grant are all out injured for the homesters and Blair Lawrie is unavailable due to work commitments. Stuart Leslie returns to the squad.

Lossie continue their search for a new manager after the resignation of Charlie Charlesworth and interim boss Stuart Cameron is without Shawn Scott and Ryan Farquhar, who are both suspended.

Deveronvale v Fraserburgh
Steven Davidson is suspended for Deveronvale and misses the visit of his old club Fraserburgh to Princess Royal Park. Scott Fraser, Kevin Adams and Lukas Krobot are likely to remain out for the Banff side.

Dean Cowie is still on the injured list for Broch, who recorded a superb win over Brora Rangers last time out. The club were further boosted by the news that Peterhead midfielder Marc Lawrence has extended his loan spell until the end of the season.

Transfer news: Wednesday 25th January

Huntly Co-Managers Andy Roddie and Tommy Wilson have again turned to their former club Colony Park to strengthen their squad, with goalkeeper John Farquhar joining until the summer of 2019.

Farquhar (31) started out with Peterhead and spent seven years at Balmoor, before moving into the junior ranks with Hillhead in 2007. From there he moved to Culter, prior to joining Colony Park in 2014.

Meanwhile, tough tackling midfield playmaker Blair Maclennan has joined Brora Rangers on loan from Inverness Caley Thistle. Blair was delighted at the prospect of his move to Dudgeon Park: "I’m looking forward to playing with what seems a great club and a great bunch of players. I do hope that I can add value to the team”

Cattachs boss Ross Tokely has been impressed with Blair and welcomed his move to the club. “With all still to play for, we were worried that injuries and suspensions to our midfield could cost us dear. Blair is a terrier in the middle and will fulfil a great role for us.”

Elsewhere Inverurie Locos have confirmed that popular winger Jordan Leyden has penned an extended Harlaw Park deal, keeping the twenty five year old at the club until at least the summer of 2020.

The player turned down an approach from Formartine United in staying with the Railwaymen and said: "I'm excited at what the future will hold for the club under Neil Cooper's management, the place is buzzing".

Manager Cooper commented: "Jordan's commitment to what we're trying to achieve here is really pleasing. I've been delighted with the player since my arrival".

Team news for Saturday 28th January

Breedon Highland League Cup Prelim Round

Keith v Forres Mechanics
Keith are missing Michael Dunn, Ryan Keir, Ryan Spink, Bruce Milne and Craig MacAskill through injury for the visit of Forres to Kynoch Park. Frazer Hall & Courney Cooper are also unavailable and Adam Clark is suspended.

Forres are in fine form and have netted ten times in their last two away matches at Clach and Fort William. Jordan Wardrope, Graham Fraser, Kyle Scott and Fraser Forbes all miss out for the visitors tomorrow.

Strathspey Th v Formartine Utd
Strathspey took an excellent point against Cove last weekend to move off the bottom of the league, but they face another tough test against Formartine in the Highland League Cup. The Grantown Jags will be without Jack Maley and James McKay, who both joined Rothes this week.

Garry Wood is suspended for the visitors, who were dealt a blow earlier this week with the resignation of Assistant Manager Mike Cormack due to work commitments.

Highland League

Buckie Thistle v Inverurie Locos
Buckie's lead at the top was reduced to three points with Brora's win over Deveronvale last weekend, while Thistle were idle after their trip to Huntly was postponed. Andy Low, Kai Ross and Andrew Skinner are all likely to remain out for the home side.

Locos boss Neil Cooper has a full squad to choose from for the trip to Victoria Park.

Deveronvale v Wick Academy
Deveronvale take on Wick Academy at Princess Royal Park as they look to improve on a run of four games without a win. Scott Fraser, Chris Blackhall and Lukas Krobot miss out for Vale, but Graeme Watt returns to the squad.

Wick suffered a crushing defeat at home to Nairn last time out and the Scorries will look to bounce straight back against the Banff men. Young striker Ross MacIver has joined the club on loan from Ross County for the rest of the season.

Cove Rangers v Fort William
Cove will hope to return to winning ways against bottom dogs Fort William at Grant Park, after their draw at Strathspey last weekend saw them fall four points behind second-place Brora. Jason Brown has signed for the club on loan until the end of season from Inverness Caley Thistle.

Fort are without captain Iain Foggo, who looks likely to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury against Forres. Scott Chisholm is away on holiday, while Richard Tawse, Iain MacIntyre and Lewis Campbell return to the squad.
